Homemade tissue and masking tape - zelfgemaakte tissue en masking tape

Hi everyone, /  Hallo iedereen,

I absolutely love masking and tissue tape, too bad it is so expensive. So after some research on the internet I found some other much cheaper ways to make tissue tape. And the best part is that you can customise it just the way you want. :)

Ik ben helemaal gek op masking tape en tissuetape, het is alleen zo jammer dat het zo duur is. Dus heb ik wat onderzoek gedaan op internet en ik vond een manier om op een veel goedkopere manier tissue tape te maken. En je kan het helemaal naar je eigen smaak vormgeven. :)

What do you need:  /  Wat heb je nodig:
Tissuepaper  /  tissue papier, in nederland vooral gebruikt om dingen in te verpakken of in schoenen. Je kan het ook hier bestellen)
double-sided tape (is that how it's called??) / dubbelzijdig plakband

Watercolor / acrylic paint or ink / any other type of coloring you like.
Waterverf / acryl verf of inkt / kleurpotloden, stiften of wat je ook fijn vind om mee te werken.

optional:  / optioneel
Stamps / masks / stencils or any other device you like to use.
Stempels / masks / stencils of wat je ook wilt gebruiken.

My tissue paper was used as packaging material (I bought a bikini and they stuffed the bikinitop, I cant think of a reason for that but I got 4 sheets so I'm not complaining)
So I had to iron it first as you can see:

I used 2 sheet to see how it reacted with different kinds of coloring.
So I've used acrylic paint (first two), watercolor (aquarel), some stamps with waterresistend stamppads and acrylic ink (last one)

I love the effect the watercolor has, because it stays transparant. The acrylic paint works good too, but you have to make sure to use enough water with the paint so it will become transparent.
I absolutely love the stamps with the write-ing on them. I've two diffent stamps as you can see. I'm in love!! I cant hardly wait till I can buy some stamps with music on them (http://www.artjourney.nl/art-journey/35370-music.html).
In the mean time I've made some others too, one with cat pawprints on them which is just too cute.
The only problem is storage, I have to finds some good solution. So if you have any suggestions, they are very welcome.

Ik vond de waterverf het beste werken en de acryl inkt het minste. De waterverf bleef prachtig transparant en vervloeide mooi. De acrylverf werkt ook prima maar als je wilt dat je papier mooi transparant blijft moet je de verf goed verdunnen.
Ik vond vooral de stempels erg mooi gelukt. Ik heb twee stempels met geschreven tekst en ik ben erg blij met het resultaat. Ik kan niet wachten tot ik weer genoeg gespaard heb om een stempel met muziekbalken erop te kopen.
Ondertussen heb ik nog een patroon gemaakt met kattenpootje. Die is ook zooooo schattig. Het enige probleem is hoe ze op te bergen. De lange strips zijn gewoon niet echt handig. Als je suggesties hebt zijn ze welkom!

Altered book lesson 6 - Altered book les 6

I've been quit busy last week with work and preparations for my altered book lessons.
I had planned to put all the design element into one page, but it just didn't work out that way.
Deze week was erg druk met werk en het voorbereiden en maken van de altered book lessen.
Ik wilde eigenlijk alle design elementen in 1 pagina verwerken, maar zo kwam het niet uit.

1st one: rhythm or pattern: / 1ste: ritme of patroon

I've used a homemade stamp with stazon and memento inkpads
Gemaakt met zelfgemaakte stempel en stazon en memento inktkussens.

2nd: rhythm and/or repetition: / 2e: ritme en/of herhaling:

Zelfgemaakte stempel met stazon en memento inktkussens. (en nu regent het ook. Ik ben erg blij met mijn gezellige studeerkamer op zolder.)

I've used Hero arts stamps: large open en closed flower with black embossing powder.
Ik heb stempels van Hero arts gebruikt (large open en closed flower) met zwart embossing poeder.

And last: Dominance with a bit of repetition:  /  De laatste: dominantie en herhaling.


I've used arylic paint, a hart mask I made myself, some stamps,old paper left overs and a white pen..
The saying is in dutch meaning: "Love doesn't cost anything to get, but is unaffordable if you have it. (now I think about it, it could also be; unaffordable if you don't have it) Ah well : CHERISH your loved ones!!
Ik heb acylverf gebruikt, een zelfgemaakt hart masker, een paar stempels, wat papier restjes en een witte pen.

Altered book Lesson 5 - Les 5

Time for another update on Elizabeth's turorial.
This dubble weeks theme was Design Principles (part1)
Homework evolves around 1 or more of the principles from this week. (Harmony, Unity, Balance, Emphasis, and Proportion.)

Alterd Book lesson 4 - "boek aanpassen" les 4

I'm following this great tutorial at Elizabeth's blog. This lessons theme was gesso and glue.
There were 6 "homework" tasks:

Ik volg de geweldige turorial op Elizabeth's blog. Het thema van deze les is Gesso en Glue.
Er waren 6 "huiswerk" taken:

1.) Create at least three double glued pages using different glues of your choice. I suggest glue stick, white glue, gel medium, and possibly Mod Podge. Document how each of these glues behaved when you worked with them.
1.) Creëer tenminst 3 dubbele verlijmde pagina's waarbij je verschillende soorten lijm gebruikt. Ik suggereer: lijmstick, witte lijm, gel medium en misschien Mod Podge. Documenteer hoe elke van deze lijmen zich gedragen terwijl je er mee werkt.

2.) Create one double glued page using gesso. Document how it behaved when you worked with it.
2.) Maak een dubbel gelijmde pagina met Gesso. Documenteer hoe het werkt.

3.) I suggest using tags made from your choice of materials to document each of the above adhesives.
3.) Ik stel voor om tags te maken waar je de keuze van de lijm en gedragingen op kunt documenteren.

The tags are collored with Ranger DistressInk. For the ones with the embossing I used the vines backgrouned stamp from HeroArts.
I used white ribbon which I stamped with versamark on HeroArts vines. (versamark is used for embossing) then I collored the ribbon with Ranger DistressInk.
De tags heb ik gekleurd met Ranger DistressInk. Voor degene die ik embossed heb, heb ik de achterond stempel Vines van HeroArts gebruikt. Verder heb ik wit lint gebruikt dat ik met VersaMark op de stempel Vines van HeroArts heb bedrukt. Daarna heb ik het lint gekleurd met Ranger DistressInk.

4.) Create a double page spread using gesso as both the background AND the glue to which you will add your page elements and embellishments.
4.) Maak een dubbele pagina waarbij je gesso zowel als achtergond als als lijm gebruikt.

Mixed media. Gesso, acrylic inks, acrylic paint, distress ink and handmade stamps.

5.) Find at least one way to use white glue as a major ingredient in a technique for a page you will either add to your AB, or on a page that is already in your AB.
6.) A spread that includes any type of glue or adhesive will be considered an added bonus.

5.) Probeer op z'n minst 1 manier om witte lijm als belangrijkste ingediënt in een techniek te gebruiken. Maak een pagina in je boek of een losse pagina die je toe kunt voegen.
6.)Een dubbele pagina (?) waar enig type lijm op gebruikt is telt extra.

For the butterfly I've used Caran D'Aches neocolor II, watersoluble. The flowers is colored with aquarell. This white glue is storaged in a container, so to use it for drawing I made this "tube"thingie :)
Voor de vlinder heb ik Caran D'Aches Neocolor II, watersuluble gebruikt. De bloem is geverfd met aquarel. Omdat de witte lijm in een potje zit moest ik iets verzinnen om ermee te kunnen tekenen. Dit spuitzak achtige gevalletje was het resultaat. 

Transparant, watersoluble gleu. It did run a bit after apply-ing. And when I colored it, it did dissolve in some sticky mess. I've put these two in my book but it's still a bit sticky. So I won't use it again.
Transparant in water oplosbare lijm van de AH. Nadat ik het op papier had aangebracht liep het nog wat uit. Tijdens het verven werd het weer zacht, het loste op tot een plakkig rotzooitje. Na 5 dagen is de bovenste nog steeds een beetje plakkering.

Alterd Book lesson 3 - "boek aanpassen" les 3

OK, I'm very late and it's not quite finished but I'll be able to finish it this week.

Oke, giga te laat en nog niet helemaal af maar dat gaat nog wel lukken deze week.

A piece of wallpaper, I once bought a whole rol for a smal price. Finished wit some masking tape.
Stuk behangpapier, ooit een hele rol gekocht voor een klein prijsje. Afgewerkt met masking tape.

The nisches in my book, I had to change my knife 2 times!
I have to glue the edges this week. The 1st square is already drying from its 1st layer.
De nisches in het boek. Ik heb het mesje 2x moeten vervangen!
Nu moeten de randen alleen nog geplakt worden. De 1ste laag zit al op het 1ste vierkant en staat al te drogen.

Left over paper from the nishes. I probably can use it some time so they go into the storage bag.
Papier dat uit de nisches komt. Het is vast nog wel ergens voor te gebruiken dus nog maar even bewaren.

shopping and baking - boodschappen en bakken

It's almost Easter and ...my birthday. First Easter Day is also my birthday this year (well it happens every few years :)) Because of that my parents and sister will have Easter brunch at our place this year (normaly we go to my parents) and that means shopping! We went to a big store called Makro. And that's were I found these beauties:

Het is bijna pasen en.... mijn verjaardag. 1ste Paasdag is dit jaar ook mijn verjaardag (dat gebeurd om de paar jaar). En daarom komen mijn ouders en zus bij ons brunchen. Normaal hebben we altijd paasbrunch bij mijn ouders. Dus er moest geshopt worden. We zijn onderander naar de Makro geweest en daar vond ik deze mooi mokken:

The pictures isn't that great because the collors really pop and here on the picture they are a bit dull. I really love them, the collor and... they are made from plastic. They just don't weight anything :) They can't go in the microwave but the diswasher isn't a problem.

De foto is niet zo goed want de mokken zelf zijn veel helderder van kleur. I vind ze echt prachtig, ze zijn zo vrolijk van kleur en ... van plastic. Ze wegen echt niets. Ze mogen helaas niet in de magnetron maar gelukkig wel in de vaatwasser.

For my co-workers tomorrow. 4 flavours: natural, lemon, with apple and rose water with a bit of orange peel. Jummie!

Voor mijn collega's morgen. 4 smaken: naturel, citroen, met appel en met rozenwater en een beetje sinaasappelschil. Jummie!
