Altered book lesson 8 - Altered book les 8

So another update on Elizabeth's turorial Lesson 8 was all about Color.... Jippie. I like :)
First we had to make a color wheel, mine isn't quite finished yet. I have to scramble a few more magazines together too finish it but here is what I have so far:

We also had to make some backgrounds using : "wet sgraffito".  (paint page, let dry, paint with other color and scrape away paint) Well I didn't do a background. My page was just too inspirational. There was a lovely boat/ship on it and I just had too use it. So I used my new delusional spray inkt with gesso for the first layer:
Gesso and dylusions

I covered the boat/ship with some Gel medium so no paint would stick too it, let it dry and used acrylic paint, a bit of modelingpaste for the second layer. For creating weaves I've used a plastic knife and for the air I've used a homemade pencil thing made from a branch.
(gesso and dylusions) + acrylic paint, modeling paste and magazine images.
Oh and the pinquins are from my still growing pile of interesting images. I've use a fine black pencil to redraw some lines on the boat/ship soo it shows a bit more.
I'm soooooo pleased with the end result. :)

Here are some close-ups and the tools I've used.

Have a lovely weekend! (without Hail!!)
Fijn weekend allemaal!

HMM. Wonder who had hail! (grin)

Actually, there was nothing that said you couldn't use part of your book as inspiration to create the lesson. I love that you used the ship as your starting point. It really made the entire piece come together in a very cohesive manner.

I guess I should have mentioned that the first layer had to be colored, but not necessarily painted. So, you interpreted my meaning beautifully. You laid down your first layer, then added the wet paint over it. That was what was important. Thanks for actually making one that worked out so nicely. I was truly impressed. But I seem to keep saying that, don't I?

Have a great weekend. And no hail for you, either. Sorry I was so late getting here. It's good to see someone enjoying the lessons like you do.
